Brian Wharton was approved by FUMC Palestine as a candidate for ordained ministry on Sunday, July 16, 2006. He is currently enrolled at Asbury Theological Seminary in
Brian, a graduate of Sam Houston State University (BS 1983) and UT Tyler (MA 1995), was an officer with the Palestine Police Department. Beginning in 1992 as a patrol officer, he retired in 2006 as the Asst. Chief of Police. His departure from the PD was to follow a calling into ministry. Brian participated in worship design, Sunday School instruction, was a member of the SPR committee, led small group studies and led the missions team.
Kristi, a graduate of LeToureau University (BA 1992), worked for the Texas Workforce Commission and HCBM in Palestine before becoming the secretary at FUMC Palestine in 2003. At FUMC, Kristi worked in children’s ministries, care ministries and Society of St. Stephens.
Brian and Kristi were members of the Pathfinders Sunday School class.
Brian and Kristi have been married since 1991. In 1997 they were blessed by the birth of their daughter Abigail. Abigail is a lifelong member of FUMC, an avid soccer player, reader, and friend to all.
